Therapy at Race (+) Positive, LLC
Why Therapy?
Did you know that racism, prejudice, and bias cause great harm to our psychological health and wellbeing? From racial trauma, depression, anxiety, and poor job performance to chronic physical health conditions these social ills negatively affect our internal states just as they cause irrevocable damage our external world.
Regardless of your racial identity, the stress, tension, fear, and fatigue that comes from combating social ills can overwhelm us, fill us with worry, empty us of hope, make us feel helpless, and steal our joy. In the safety of the therapeutic space Dr. Anica brings her psychological expertise, evidence-based treatments, and years of clinical experience to help you gain insight into your functioning, as well as garner practical strategies to effectively care for yourself, improve your relationships, and advance meaningful change in all spaces you inhabit.
Our Approach
Dr. Anica adopts a collaborative clinical approach to treatment, grounded in the belief that you are the expert on you, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Theory, Racial History, Trauma Informed Lens, and Interpersonal Theory infused with the strengths-based principles of Positive Psychology and the centering techniques of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness. You may choose from individual or group therapy to address your presenting concerns such as mood dysregulation (i.e., depression, anxiety), racial trauma (i.e., personal, vicarious, generational), interpersonal difficulties (i.e., family/friends, partner, work), body image/disordered eating history, and self-care (i.e., stress management, time management, boundary setting) among others. All sessions are conducted via telehealth using a secure virtual therapy platform.
